License could incorrectly show "invalid" after 7 days
License revalidation only ran from the main window — during a long-running session (SetTag often runs for days as a menu-bar app) the local cache could drift past the 7-day offline grace period without ever rechecking, incorrectly showing "no active license" while the license was perfectly active on our end. Revalidation now runs from app launch itself, plus a repeating check every 12 hours, even if the window is never opened.
New tab: Rename by name
Copies already-tagged RAW files (and any .xmp sidecar) into a new folder, renamed to "Name_01", "Name_02", ... based on the metadata SetTag already wrote, numbered per name in capture order. The source folder is always left untouched, this is a copy.
Manual tab updated with Open/Bewaar (.settag)
The built-in manual didn't mention the "Open..."/"Bewaar..." buttons yet (.settag files, including the handoff from SetTag Prep). It's in there now, matching the website manual.
Update notice now also in SetTag Prep
The "new version available" notice only lived in SetTag itself, SetTag Prep didn't have it yet (and didn't show a version number either). Both are there now, with Prep checking its own version separately.
A clearer Sets page
The button bar above the set list had gotten too crowded. Setup tasks (CSV import/export, QR Generator, Bulk QR export, Product catalogue, Process existing files) now live up top next to Klanten. The bar right above the set list now only has what you actually use during a shoot: + Set, Open... and Bewaar... (previously "Import .settag"/"Export .settag").
Export and import shoots as a .settag file
A shoot can now be saved as a .settag file (via "Export .settag") and opened again (via "Import .settag", or just double-clicking it in Finder). Handy as a backup, or to hand off a shoot prepared in SetTag Prep to SetTag itself. Watch folder and tag history are Mac-specific and deliberately not carried over; sets and tag counts are.
Manual tab updated with bulk QR export and backlog scan
The manual on the website had pulled ahead of the app's built-in manual tab (bulk QR export, "Process existing files" for photos taken before a set was active). The in-app tab is now fully in sync again.
Older Leica/Panasonic .RAW files weren't tagged
Cameras like the Leica D-Lux 3 (2006, a rebadged Panasonic LX2) use the older Panasonic raw format with the generic .RAW extension, a different format from the later .RWL that SetTag already supported. These files were neither recognised nor tagged. Fixed now.
Update notice, watch folder visible on the Sets page, 5 previews
SetTag now shows on its own when a newer version is available (a small label at the top of the window and in the menu bar), without ever auto-updating or causing trouble when there's no internet for a moment, e.g. on location. The Sets page now also shows which watch folder is active. And the recently-tagged strip now shows 5 photos instead of 3.
Hasselblad FFF wasn't being tagged, plus Leica RWL support
A Hasselblad .fff file (tethered capture via Phocus) was recognised but not tagged: exiftool treated a cosmetic Phocus notice as a blocking error. That's fixed now. SetTag also now recognises and tags Leica's .rwl format (D-Lux, V-Lux and others).
Hasselblad recognition (FFF)
SetTag now recognises Hasselblad's tethered-capture format .fff (via Phocus). Actually tagging .fff didn't work correctly yet in this version, see the fix in 1.1.11 above. Hasselblad's card format .3fr is recognised but can't be tagged, that's a limitation of exiftool itself.
Bulk QR export as PDF
New "Bulk QR export" button next to QR Generator: export a whole shoot's QR cards at once as a PDF, several cards per A4 page, with cut lines. Two densities: Large (4 per page, for small shoots) and Compact (9 per page, for large catalogue shoots). Also available in the free SetTag Prep app.
License check tightened after expiry
A license the server reported as expired could keep working for up to 7 more days due to the local offline grace period. That grace period now only applies while the license is still active, not once the server has explicitly marked it expired. Relevant now that yearly and monthly licenses carry an expiry date.
Process existing files
New button on a shoot: tag photos that were already sitting in the watch folder before a set was activated or the app was running. SetTag now remembers when each set became active, and assigns every file to whichever set was active at the moment the file appeared, based on its arrival time. Files from before the first-ever activation are never guessed at, they stay untagged and show up separately in the log.
Background process now shuts down cleanly
The internal exiftool process SetTag uses for tagging kept running in the background after quitting the app. Every relaunch left one more of them behind. It now shuts down cleanly when SetTag quits.
Brand decoupled from client in the product catalogue
The product catalogue used to be organised per client, but one client can carry several brands (an agency might shoot both Nike and another brand for the same customer). The catalogue is now organised per brand instead, independent of which client a shoot is for: every brand stays selectable, for every shoot. Existing products were automatically migrated to their brand.
Client visible on the shoot
If a shoot has a client, you now see it prominently next to the shoot name, above the sets list. Handy reassurance that you're working on the right shoot, and nice to show.
A client could disappear after deleting a shoot
If a client hadn't been separately created via "Clients" yet, it could disappear from the picker as soon as the last shoot using that client was deleted, even though the product catalogue still had products for that client. The client list now also checks the product catalogue itself, so a client with products still in it always stays selectable.
Manage clients centrally
New "Clients" button to create and manage your clients in one place. That list is now the same everywhere: pick it when creating a new shoot instead of retyping it, and you'll see the same list in the product catalogue. Pick a client for a shoot, and the "From catalogue" choice on a set automatically filters to that client.
Search the sets list + an email field per set
For large groups, like a team of portraits that doesn't show up in a fixed order, you can now search directly in the Sets tab by name, model, set number or item, instead of scrolling through the whole list. Sets also got an optional email field (also via CSV import), handy if you're preparing to send photos to each person individually later. CSV import now also recognises "Name" and "Product" as column headers alongside "Brand", whatever someone renames the headers to.
Product catalogue could appear empty after an update
A catalogue saved before per-product clients existed (before version 1.0.6) could fail to load after a later update and appear empty. The catalogue itself was never gone, loading it just failed silently. This is now fixed: existing catalogues (and shoots) load correctly again, regardless of how old the file is.
Free SetTag Prep app + clear set confirmation
New: SetTag Prep, a free standalone app to prep shoots, sets, QR cards and the product catalogue in advance, no license needed. It works off the same data as SetTag itself, so anything prepped beforehand is already there at the shoot. On top of that, SetTag now clearly confirms on screen and with a sound which set just became active, for every way of activating one (scanner, manual entry, or automatically from the photo).
SetTag now speaks English too
The app now automatically follows your Mac's system language: set it to English and SetTag shows itself in English, including error messages and the log. Dutch remains the default. On top of that, the full manual is now also laid out on the website, in both languages.
Also works without an internet connection on location
SetTag checks your license locally against a cache instead of online every time. As long as you've had a connection somewhere in the past 7 days, tagging keeps working without wifi or 4G. Only after 7 days offline in a row does tagging lock, until the license can revalidate again.
Shoot name was missing from RAW file metadata
The shoot name was silently not being written to XMP because a non-existent tag field was used. exiftool only raised a warning, not an error, so this went unnoticed. The correct field is now used, so the shoot name is included in the metadata.
Add a client to the catalogue
You could only select a client in the product catalogue if a shoot already existed for them. Now you can add (and remove) a new client directly in the catalogue itself, without first having to create a shoot.
Product catalogue per client
The catalogue can now be filtered per client, so choosing a product no longer means scrolling through someone else's products. Products without a client stay visible to everyone (General).
Sets counter and ordering fixed
The counter at the top didn't account for deleted sets, deleting a set with tagged photos now correctly updates the count again. New sets now appear at the top of the list instead of the bottom.
Optionally discard the QR card after scanning
New checkbox under Watch Folder: automatically move the photographed QR set card to the Trash after recognition, instead of it staying in the set as a regular photo. Off by default, the card is kept unless you turn it on yourself.
Tag counter recovers after restart
The counter at the top showed 0 after a restart, even if photos had already been tagged for that shoot. It now automatically picks up the real total again.
Photos upright, watch folder remembered
Portrait photos would sometimes show sideways in the thumbnails due to an EXIF orientation issue, that's fixed now. The watch folder is now remembered per shoot and returns automatically after a restart.
Menu bar fix and partial demo
SetTag now opens a window by itself on launch instead of staying hidden behind the menu bar icon. Without a license you can explore the whole app, only tagging stays locked until activation.

Automatic tagging during tethered shoots, scanning sets via USB scanner, manual entry or a photographed QR card, watch folder, product catalogue, CSV/JSON export, a license system and a built-in manual.
