During the shoot

Watch folder, automatic tagging

SetTag watches your tethered-capture folder and writes the active set (brand, model, location, items) into both IPTC and XMP of every new photo, the moment it lands. Works with any tethering software that writes to a folder, including Capture One.

Three ways to activate a set

USB scanner on the QR set card, manual typing or pasting, or recognised automatically from the first photo of a new set, no separate scan step needed.

Printing QR set cards

Print a set card straight from a set, or use "Bulk QR export" to export a whole shoot's cards at once as a PDF, several per A4, with cut lines — also available in the free SetTag Prep app, handy for a stylist or assistant.

No filename surprises

Recognises reused file numbers (like a Canon rolling over after 9999) automatically from the content, and tags correctly again instead of skipping anything.

Organising and preparing

Shoots and Sets

A Shoot bundles all the Sets for a day or assignment; a Set is one outfit or product combination with brand, model, location and items. Every set automatically gets a set number.

Product catalogue per brand

Build a reusable list of products and colours, organised per brand (one client can have several brands). When building a set, pick straight "From catalogue" instead of retyping everything.

CSV import

Import a whole set list or product catalogue in one go via CSV, with ready-made templates for fashion, portraits and product photography. Handy for, say, a group of portraits that doesn't show up in a fixed order.

After the shoot

Searchable without extra software

The metadata lives in the file itself, not in a separate text file: visible right away in Lightroom, and searchable by keyword in Finder or Windows Explorer, without importing anything.

Process existing files

A safety net for photos that arrived before a set was active: SetTag remembers when each set became active and assigns still-untagged files afterwards based on arrival time. Files from before the very first active set are never guessed at.

Export

Export the sets of a shoot as CSV (for Excel) or JSON (full data), for archiving or to send on to the client.

Reliability and license

Log tab

Every photo that couldn't be tagged automatically shows up with a reason in the Log tab: no active set, a locked file, or a license issue.

Keeps working briefly offline

Your license only needs to revalidate online once every 7 days. So a shoot at a location without internet is not a problem.

Monthly, yearly or lifetime

Choose the term that suits you, with no automatic billing: you renew yourself, with an email reminder before your license expires.

Built-in manual

The full manual is built into the app itself, no separate documentation needed during a shoot.
